May Yao
I work from a trauma-informed, compassionate, and non-judgmental approach, prioritizing emotional safety, trust, and collaboration. I strive to create a supportive space where clients can move at their own pace while exploring thoughts, emotions, and lived experiences, particularly those shaped by stress, adversity, or trauma.
Drawing on my previous experience as a Special Education Assistant, I bring a practical, strengths-based, and behaviorally informed approach to my work with neurodivergent individuals. When working with couples, I integrate principles from the Gottman Method through supporting emotional attunement, communication, and repair.
Drawing on my background in community outreach and my lived experience as a first-generation immigrant, I am particularly aware of the ways systemic stress, cultural transition, and identity can intersect with one’s life. I work with kids, teenagers, newcomers, and adults to build resilience, foster self-understanding, and support meaningful, sustainable changes.

Niki (Marzieh) Zekrirazligh
Niki is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), a Professional Member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and holds a Master’s degree in Psychology. She has more than 17 years of clinical experience providing psychotherapy to adults, couples, children, adolescents, and families. Her professional background includes private practice, community mental health services, and work as a clinical supervisor and psychotherapy instructor.
Niki’s approach is primarily relational and psychoanalytic, grounded in the belief that our emotional experiences and relationships shape how we understand ourselves and connect with others. She offers a warm, thoughtful, and non-judgmental space where clients can explore difficult feelings, recognize patterns in their lives, and develop a deeper understanding of their experiences.
She provides both long-term and short-term psychotherapy, depending on each client’s needs and goals. While longer-term work allows for deeper exploration of emotional and relational patterns, shorter-term psychotherapy may focus on specific difficulties and practical changes. When appropriate, she integrates elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and solution-focused approaches.
In individual psychotherapy, Niki works with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, emotional distress, relationship difficulties, and significant life transitions. She is particularly interested in how unresolved experiences, internal conflicts, and established ways of coping may contribute to present struggles. Her work helps clients understand these connections and develop greater emotional awareness and flexibility.
In couples psychotherapy, Niki supports partners facing recurring conflicts, communication difficulties, emotional distance, and challenges involving trust and intimacy. Rather than taking sides or focusing on who is right, she seeks to understand each partner’s emotional experience and the dynamics that develop between them.
She helps couples recognize how vulnerabilities, expectations, and reactions can create cycles of conflict or withdrawal. Her work encourages partners to understand one another more deeply, express difficult feelings, and rebuild emotional connection. She places particular importance on helping couples maintain closeness without losing their individuality, allowing room for both connection and difference.
Niki also has experience in child and adolescent psychotherapy, supporting young people experiencing anxiety, emotional and behavioural difficulties, peer relationship challenges, and family stress. With children, she pays attention to the emotional meaning of behaviour and play, considering their developmental needs and family environment. With adolescents, she emphasizes trust and autonomy, providing a space to explore identity, self-esteem, friendships, and family relationships.
